You are invited to the meetings of our
Toastmasters club which will be held
on
Every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month:
Kijk in 't Jathuis,
Nieuwe Kijk in 't Jatstraat 49,
9712 SC Groningen
Our meetings
start promptly at 7.30 p.m. We recommend
guests to arrive between 7.00 - 7.15 p.m.
A typical Toastmasters
meeting goes as follows:
The host of the evening, is the Toastmaster
of the Evening. He/she is responsible for
the
smooth running of the meeting.
2-4 members hold prepared speeches.
These will range from humorous to
thought-provoking, and will address an
array of different topics.
2-4 other members evaluate these
speeches by analyzing the structure of
the speech, the manner in which it has
been conducted, its message and
relevance to the aim of the particular
speech. These evaluations are speeches
within themselves and are also evaluated
by the audience. Traditionally the evaluator will also provide short written feedback on behalve of the speaker.
Impromptu speeches is a standing item on
the agenda. Here, anything between 4 and
10 2-minute speeches can be held by
members on various topics related to the
topic provided by one of the members. This helps you
learn better to deal with being put on
the spot, and helps build confidence.
Ah-counters, timers and grammarians
report on those areas which weaken so
many speeches. These looming reports
encourage us to discipline ourselves
that little bit more.
